Capilano University is an Open University that was founded in 1968. It was designated as a university in 2008. The university was formed through a referendum by the school boards of North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Howe Sound. The institution was accepted by the provincial government and named after North Shore locals' suggestions. Cost of attendance

Accommodation

CapU's residences are all located off-campus. CapU has three housing halls that are open to all students. Grouse Hall, Cypress Hall, and Seymour Hall are their names. CapU is always working to improve the dormitories so that they are accessible to all students, disabled or not. Because all shared rooms are strictly single-gender, there are no special accommodations for LGBTQ students. Your resident fees, which start at $1,195 per month, include a fully furnished room with a bed, storage, desk, chair, and closet, unrestricted high-speed wireless Internet, and access to laundry, washrooms, and showers, as well as dedicated lounge and study spaces. Monthly rent for off-campus housing ranges between 500 and 700 Pounds.

Acceptance rate

Each year, CapU enrols roughly 12,700 students: 9,000 in for-credit programmes, over 1,200 in non-credit courses, and 2,500 international students. Admission to Capilano University is granted to 23% of all applicants, suggesting a very stringent admission policy.

Campus

The main campus first opened its doors to students in 1973. CapU has four different campuses. North Vancouver is the main campus, with a regional campus at Sechelt (Sunshine Coast), CapU Lonsdale on the North Shore, and the Tszil Learning Center at Llwat Nation in Mount Currie, British Columbia. The Centre for Sport and Wellness provides a variety of facilities and free services to students for recreational activities such as Lillooet Park, weight room, gymnasium, soccer field, pitch and putt, lockers, and so on. Capilano University has 36 student groups available to students. CapU provides student areas in the CSU Maple Lounge and four libraries.

The university is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).

Jobs and Placement

Every year, the career development centre at CapU hosts career empowerment workshops, link up programmes, company visits, Industry day, online job and volunteer board, networking events, hiring fairs, and other activities, as well as career fairs attended by up to 130 employers. After graduating from the programme, 36% of CapU students continued their education, and 95% of CapU graduates are employed. Capilano University has an employment rate of 89 percent, with graduates earning an average yearly salary of 84,000 CAD.
