Dallas Baptist University (DBU) was founded in Decatur as Decatur Baptist College in 1898. It was Texas' first two-year junior college. In 1965, the college relocated to Dallas and renamed Dallas Baptist College. It became a senior college in 1968 and began offering four-year degrees in 1970. It was formally given its current name in 1985. Dallas Baptist University now offers 7 associate degrees, 86 undergraduate majors, 33 master's degrees, and 2 doctoral programmes. In addition, the university offers 70 dual master's degree programmes as well as 68 accelerated bachelor's and master's degree programmes.
