Green River Community College began in 1945 as an adult evening education programme. It was part of the Auburn school district at the time. The school received authorised to become a community college in 1963. The college began professional and technical programmes in September 1964. The school was once located near the Auburn Boeing Plant. It was eventually transferred to Lea Hill. Green River Community College was renamed Green River College in 2014. Green River College now offers over a hundred degree and certificate programmes that can lead to a fulfilling profession.

Campus

Green River Community College's main campus is located in Auburn's Lea Hill neighbourhood. The Lea Hill campus encompasses 180 acres of lushly forested land. The Auburn Center has a second campus. It serves the Auburn town and the surrounding areas' needs. Adult Basic Education (ABE), Aviation Technology (AVIA), Center of Excellence for Careers in Education (COE), Continuing Education (CE), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Small Business Assistance Center (SBAC) and Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), Software Development (IT), Transitional Studies (TS), Washington Certification Services (WCS), and Washington Environmental Training Center are all housed on this campus (WETRC). This campus may be found at 417 Ramsay Way. Green River Community College's third location is known as the Kent Campus. The Enumclaw Campus is the fourth campus. It can be found at 1414 Griffin Avenue.

Green River College is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
