Kent State University was founded in 1910 as a teacher training college. The school was formed as part of the John Lowry Bill, which also established Bowling Green State University as a sister school. Kent State University was originally known as Ohio State Normal College at Kent. Kent State University now grants 68 doctorates, 250 master's degrees, and 43 certificates. KSU is the first and only university in Ohio to offer Bachelor of Aeronautics - Flight Technology and Master of Library and Information Science degrees.
