Lakehead University grew out of Lakehead College of Arts, Science, and Technology and Lakehead Technical Institute. Lakehead Technical University was established to meet Ontario's need for higher education. In 1946, an Order-in-Council of the Province of Ontario established it. Today, the university offers 57 undergraduate programmes as well as 30 graduate and doctoral programmes through nine faculties: Education, Business Administration, Engineering, Health and Behavioural Sciences, Medicine and Graduate Studies, Science and Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management, and Science and Humanities.

Campus

Lakehead Thunder-bay Campus, located in southwest Ontario, has over 7,900 students and offers everything from educational facilities to a wide range of professional courses such as forestry, nursing, business, kinesiology, social work, medicine, and law.

Jobs and Placement

Matches for practise placement are usually made in early March. Practice placements begin in either September or January of the third year of study (3L). Students will spend one semester in courses and one semester on Practice Placement. Furthermore, their practicum is a required component of your curriculum and consists of a minimum of 105 days of practise teaching divided into four teaching locations.
