Mississippi State University is an open research university that is officially known as the Mississippi State University for Agriculture and Applied Science. The Morrill Act (1862) established the land-grant institution, which was officially recognised as Mississippi Agricultural & Mechanical College in 1878 and welcomed its first student class in 1880. Campus

The Mississippi State University campus has 160 buildings as well as farmland and woods. MSU also maintains a 'Meridian facility' off campus where programmes are run in partnership with the United States Army. At the University, there is the MAFES Plant Science Farm, which is used for agricultural research. It covers 560 acres and features ten greenhouses and 40 structures. The MAFES Animal Sciences Farm, which spans 1,650 acres and houses 52 buildings, is also part of the campus. There are 85 administrative/academic structures, three libraries, 25 research centres, 19 housing structures, 20 athletic and recreational structures, and 16 museums and galleries.

Mississippi State University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, masters, specialist, and doctorate degrees.

Jobs and Placement

The career centre offers job shadowing, casual interviews, a career fair, and other relevant events. Students receive several interview techniques, engage in on-campus interviews, learn about job search strategies, and receive assistance in drafting resumes, cover letters, and curriculum vitae.
