Otago Polytechnic, founded in 1870, is an open institution affiliated with the Public Tertiary Education Institution. The institute was once known as the King Edward Technical College. The institute began by offering evening classes to working professionals. Otago Polytechnic now offers career-focused education and training through a variety of New Zealand certified postgraduate qualifications, degrees, diplomas, and certificates at levels 2-10.

Campus

The institution is divided into three campuses: Dunedin, Central Otago, and Auckland International. The schools of architecture, natural sciences, engineering, and art are all located on the Dunedin campus. This campus also houses the primary library. Two learning facilities on the Central Otago campus provide computer training courses. The Auckland Overseas campus was built specifically for international students. This campus houses the Departments of Business & Management and Information Technology. All campuses strive to give students with the amenities they desire. Furthermore, there are numerous eateries and cafes around the campuses. There are other general businesses, medical stores, and stationery shops near the school.

Students participate in industrial tours with their professors to obtain knowledge and exposure to the industry. They also get the opportunity to work as interns under the supervision of professionals. Internships can later be added to their employment experience. Otago Polytechnic, University of Otago, Southern District Health Board (New Zealand), Fulton Hogan, Canterbury District Health Board, Dunedin City Council, New Zealand Defence Force, Delta, Downer New Zealand, and Fonterra are among the recruiters on campus.
