Sacred Heart University
Bishop Walter W. Curtis established Sacred Heart University in 1963. The primary goal of this university at the time was to educate society regardless of creed, ethnicity, gender, or religion. It currently provides a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting, communications, nursing, and engineering. Sacred Heart University now offers over 80 programmes, the most popular of which are Science, Nursing, Management, Marketing, and Psychology. SHU also has more than 60 study abroad programmes in 30 countries throughout the world.

Over 100 social, intellectual, leadership, media, multicultural, and performing arts clubs and organisations are available to SHU students. There is also a Greek Life programme at the university, with fifteen sororities and fraternities and approximately 1,800 active participants. The Sacred Heart University Pioneers compete in 32 NCAA Division I athletic teams in over 30 intercollegiate sports teams.


Sacred Heart University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).
