Southern Institute of Technology
Southern Institute of Technology is a public institute and one of New Zealand's largest technical institutes. SIT was founded in 1971 and became well-known for its Zero Fees Scheme. As a result, tuition for overseas students is kept moderate and reasonable. The institute offers a diverse selection of certificate and postgraduate programmes, as well as gateway courses in several specialisations.

Invercargill's SIT Apartments are made up of 12 older type hotel units and 40 brand new units for international and domestic students (209 beds altogether). The Southern Institute of Technology took over the Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand, or MAINZ, in 2018, and had previously been based in Auckland. For the year 2020, the institute is also planning another campus at St. Johns Church. The institute has invested more than $5.5 million in campus improvements and continues to do so. The Southern Institute of Technology has nine schools or divisions through which its courses and degrees are provided.

College placements are quite good. Furthermore, SIT, which is well-known for its community service, allows students to begin networking with potential employers while still in school. The average compensation package offered is between 6.5 and 7.5 LPA.
