St. Thomas Institution is a government-funded university that was founded in 1910. The founding of this university may be traced back to the establishment of St. Thomas College, which operated as a high school and junior college until 1934. The provincial legislature, however, awarded this institution degree-awarding authority and university status on March9, 1934. St. Thomas University is now largely an undergraduate institution offering exclusively liberal arts and social justice degrees. Post-graduate degrees in Education and Social Work are also available at the university.

St. Thomas is also well-known for its clubs and organisations, which include The Criminal Justice Club, Accounting Student Association, Cyber Security Club, and Poetry, Theatre, and Arts Association, among others. St. Thomas University's campus includes classrooms, libraries, and administrative offices. In addition, the university offers men's and women's basketball, volleyball, soccer, football teams and more.
