The University of Charleston was founded in 1888 as the Barboursville Seminary and received its current name in 1978. It is a private university in Charleston, West Virginia, on the banks of the Kanawha River. There is also a campus in Beckley, West Virginia. Today, the university's four schools provide undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programmes. There are around 40 programmes available in the Arts and Sciences, Business, Health Sciences, and Pharmacy. Beckley offers the well-known associate degrees in healthcare.
