The University of Houston (abbreviated as UH) is a public research-focused higher education institution founded in 1927 as Houston Junior College. In 1934, it became a university, and in 1963, it became a state institution. Today, the University of Houston offers 108 undergraduate majors and minors, 104 master's degrees, and 46 doctoral degrees. There are another 26 research centres at the institution. All programmes are available through the college's 16 colleges, schools, and interdisciplinary honours college.

Campus

UH's main campus is located in southeast Houston. The 667-acre campus includes outstanding academic, administrative, recreational, and other support facilities. With its art exhibits, restaurants and cafes, leisure centres, athletic events, and live performances, the university maintains a lively environment. The M.D. Anderson Library has a cutting-edge recording studio and hosts daily activities and technology training. The University of Houston's Student Centre houses study and social rooms, student groups, a food court, IT services, campus stores, and a game room with a bowling alley. TDECU Stadium, which seats 40,000 people, is home to the university's football team. Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park, which seats 3,500, is home to the baseball club, while Fertitta Centre is home to the basketball team.

Accredition

The University of Houston is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate, master's, professional and doctoral degrees.

Alumni career services (career fairs/workshops), career counselling, on-campus recruiting, and vocational exams are all available through the university's career services.
