The University of California, San Francisco, was founded in 1864 and is a significant medical research facility. It was once known as the Toland Medical College. In 1873, the university merged with California University, and in 1881, it established a Dentistry School. The School of Medicine on the San Francisco campus is the Western United States' oldest medical school. Today, The University of California provides 11 professional master's degrees and 19 doctoral programmes in nursing, pharma, dentistry, biomedical, and other fields.
