University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), situated in Preston and affiliated with the University Alliance, is a government-run higher education institution. UCLan, formerly known as the Harris Art College, has its origins in the 1828 Institute for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. Today, The University of Central Lancashire offers over 230 undergraduate and 206 postgraduate degrees throughout its campuses in the United Kingdom and around the world. Campus

The University of Central Lancashire has three campuses, with the main campus in Preston. Applied Digital Signal and Image Processing Research Centre (ASDIP) and Advanced Digital Manufacturing Technology Research Centre (ADMTRC) are located on the Burnley campus (ADMT). Preston is recognised as one of the best-connected cities in the UK, with the train station only 10 minutes away, as well as the safest city in the UK for students to live. The University of Central Lancashire provides a diverse range of events, from art exhibitions to music festivals, public lectures to science courses. All students are entitled to complimentary sports memberships at the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre and the UCLan Sports Arena.
