The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was established in 1859 as a public research university. It is the flagship institution of the University of Illinois system and is frequently referred to as the best public university in the United States. In 2017, the university spent $642 million on research. The University, which is comprised of 16 schools and colleges, offers over 150 undergraduate degrees and approximately 100 graduate programmes. Aside from that, the UIUC campus houses a massive world-class library, common rooms, a theatre, and an alumni centre. There are over 1000 student organisations available to assist them in selecting the best club for their needs. 8 to create, accounting club, act green club, active minds, actuarial science club, Alpha chi sigma are some of the student organisations. Every year, the Illini 4000 marathon is held for non-profit organisations. To engage students in extracurricular activities, a variety of music, dance, art, and sports events are held. Another programme for students is Work it out on Campus, which allows them to exercise alone or with a partner. It also has a healthy cooking class to promote healthy habits among students.

The Career Centre at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign offers career and professional development resources to all students. Students must be either currently enrolled or alumni within one year of graduation to be eligible for the Career Centre's services. Alumni who have been out of school for more than a year are eligible for one thirty-minute career coaching session, on-site use of the Career Resource Centre, and access to Handshake.
